Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Yes we are still in Christmas Season! May everyone have a prosperous and blessed 2015!

It has been an amazing year full of challenges and many blessings. I cannot think of a better way to end 2014  with the Divine Office Prayer for today.

If you are wondering what is the divine office?  The divine office or liturgy of the hours are a set of prayers based on scriptures that the Catholic Church sets apart for each day. In doing so the whole Church prays to God for the good of all.

“From ancient times the Church has had the custom of celebrating each day the liturgy of the hours. In this way the Church fulfills the Lord’s precept to pray without ceasing, at once offering its praise to God the Father and interceding for the salvation of the world.”

Office of the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship.

It is a beautiful meditation and form of worship!

Lord, open my lips.
– And my mouth will proclaim your praise.

Ant. Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.

Psalm 95

Come, let us sing to the Lord
and shout with joy to the Rock who saves us.
Let us approach him with praise and thanksgiving
and sing joyful songs to the Lord.

Ant. Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.

The Lord is God, the mighty God,
the great king over all the gods.
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth
and the highest mountains as well
He made the sea; it belongs to him,
the dry land, too, for it was formed by his hands.

Ant. Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.

Come, then, let us bow down and worship,
bending the knee before the Lord, our maker,
For he is our God and we are his people,
the flock he shepherds.

Ant. Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.

Today, listen to the voice of the Lord:
Do not grow stubborn, as your fathers did in the wilderness,
when at Meriba and Massah they challenged me and provoked me,
Although they had seen all of my works.

Ant. Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.

Forty years I endured that generation.
I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray
and they do not know my ways.”
So I swore in my anger,
“They shall not enter into my rest.”

Ant. Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. Christ is born for us; come, let us adore him.

  1. Wow that’s Australia Caleb and what a wonderful Song of Praise, thank you so much for sharing them, they are indeed a beautiful Christmas gift to us.

This may surprise you Caleb but you are one of our top Commenters for 2014 and we would like to thank you for your kindness in visiting us, for your encouragement and for sharing from your heart, you have blessed us greatly.

If wanted Caleb, I would like to create a Power point for you, it’s just my way of saying thank you for your encouragement and support, all I need is something you like and a theme, as an example; you could choose waterfalls and the theme could be overflowing with Joy, it could be an Animal or the Solar System or perhaps Sunsets and Sunrises etc and a theme to go with them, please let me know , I will need time to complete it and is it OK to link back to you?
