An instant

In an instant it all fell apart.

With a word that refused to take flight.

A moment soon gone.

For my words lingered on my lips for far too long.

A moment crying mercy!

But left behind, wasted in foolish hesitation

O, cruel inhumanity so afraid and lost

Was there any other way in which pride was not so blind?

  1. Yes Caleb there is a way in which pride is not so blind? it all depends if it is Godly or Worldly as confirmed below.

    What Worldly pride is…

Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

1 John 2:15- 17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the Love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes and the Pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.

    What Godly Pride is …

Galatians 6: 4 Each one should understand their own actions. Then they can take Pride in themselves alone without comparing themselves to others.

2 Corinthians 8:24 show these men the proof of your Love and the reason for our Pride in you so that the Churches can see it.

2 Corinthians 5:11-12 Because we know what it is to fear the Lord we try to persuade others. It is plain to God what we are and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. We are giving you an opportunity to take Pride in us not trying to commend ourselves again to you so that you have an answer for those who take Pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

Romans 11:13b I take Pride in my Ministry.

To have Godly Love for oneself is to take Pride in our position in Christ Jesus and as a Christian I also take Godly Pride in my Ministry like Paul did to those who are in darkness and rejoice with those who are not.

    1. Dear Anne,

Thank you for sharing these beautiful scriptures! Great to have you visiting and sharing your thoughts!

Yes, we are created it in the image of God and insofar as we acknowledge how amazing we are not because of anything that we have done but because the mere fact that we were created in his image we can rejoice and take pride that there is a Creator that loves us!

In the context of this prose I was referring to worldly pride that leads to selfishness and blinds you to needs of others.

      1. Very True Caleb and that is what Paul meant, he did not undermine what God was doing in His life and nor should we. God has chosen in advance His good works for us to do with His equipping and empowering and we rejoice that we are His Redeemed Children set apart and lifted high, He sings over us and calls us precious.

Below Caleb is some Scriptures that God gave me in my Storm and a Song that greatly touches my heart, one of the few good memories I have as a Child was being lifted high on my fathers shoulders and now I am again.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you I have called you by name you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression you will not be burned up the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD your God The Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the LORD, thoughts of Peace and not of evil, to give you a Future and a Hope.

Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of Men.

Christ-mas Love and Blessings – Anne.

      2. Beautiful!

Such reassuring words: “Do not be afraid”. They are a constant refrain through the bible!

David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the “LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished”.

        1 Chronicles 28:20
